LOOP 45

THIRD YEAR - FALL SEMESTER - 2021

This was a partner project, where the intended goal was to design a mixed-use housing development in the Mar Vista neighborhood in Los Angeles. This housing complex was designed to be affordable and create a space for young professionals to live and work easily. The project considers the setting of being in a lower-density neighborhood and gives back to the community by creating a public loop of amenities. The building is turned at a 45-degree angle to maximize the surface area reacting to the neighborhood and orient towards true north. The building has no true front façade, as each side of the building is treated equally. Loop 45 is focused on creating a variety of exterior pockets of space, such as the exterior balconies and the public plaza area, for both the residents and the neighborhood community.
